It's All About...

...ME! {really, it is!}

There's a lot of words I could use to describe myself, but the best sense of me comes out through my posts.

I hail from northern New Jersey, a town only two-square miles in size about 30 miles North of New York City and (more importantly) within a 25 minute drive of four shopping malls and a plethora of diners! I graduated from Penn State University in three-and-a-half years with B.A.'s in Economics and Advertising. I worked with the National Hockey League in NYC for a post-grad internship and then relocated to Atlanta, GA for a position in marketing and search consulting. Deloitte surprised me six months later with a recruiting phone call, ultimately leading to another relocation to Washington, DC a few weeks after that! I have been in DC for almost two years now and have loved every minute of it, especially meeting, falling in love, and moving in with my boyfriend.

When I'm not working you can find me on my computer {blogging, pinning, tweeting, yamming... you get the idea!}, in the kitchen {cooking and baking!}, at flying trapeze school {my latest and greatest hobby!}, in my closet {picking out my next ensemble}, or painting my nails some crazy colors and designs. I also thoroughly enjoy painting {with acrylics} and crafting!

Words and phrases that I would use to describe myself are;

  • Meticulous
  • Tall
  • Friendly
  • Busy
  • Optimistic
  • Overachiever
  • Not a morning person
  • Not a night owl
  • Wannabe wine aficionado
  • Stylish, but not trendy

...PATENT LEATHER SHOES!

So you may have guessed it, I was in fact wearing patent leather shoes when I created this blog back in July 2007. But the history behind my love and passion for shoes, that's something else...

On an interview I was once asked, "what's something that you're passionate about?" This question stuck with me for a while after, and the more I thought about it, the more often shoes kept running through my mind. And then a thought came to me... shoes are for women, what ties are for men. Afterall, men have power ties... I think women have power shoes. I'm sure if you really think about it, you have that go-to "red power tie" shoe in your closet; the one you can put on that instantly makes you feel powerful and invincible.

A shoe says a lot about a person. Take a women's shoe salon; you have heels, flats, boots, sandals, mules, sling-backs, peep-toes... the list goes on. The varieties and options are endless; shoes make or break an ensemble.

I love shoes and I'm here to share that passion with you (along with lots of other random thoughts that run through my mind!) Any comments or suggestions you want to make are encouraged! Please don't hesitate to reach out, you can always email me at nycshopgirl15 at gmail dot com.
